19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on court had prompted some to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
