Singer Susan Boyle has stated she was "deeply moving" to discover that Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet listed her as one of his biggest British heroes.
The American film star named the Scottish singer alongside other luminaries such as racing legend Lewis Hamilton, fashion and football power couple David and Victoria Beckham, and underground rapper Fakemink.
"She dreamt bigger than all of us," he said, reflecting on her 2009 Britain's Got Talent audition of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Misérables. "That moment touched us all."
In response, Boyle wrote she was "very flattered," noting: "The beginning of that journey was remarkable, and to discover that performance resonated to you all these years on is genuinely humbling."
Boyle went on to say: "We all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don't we? We should all dream big!
"I wish you every success as you follow your aspirations. Thank you for your kindness and for cherishing that memory. With love, Susan."
An Unconventional Campaign
Chalamet's remarks came while he was talking about his upcoming movie Marty Supreme. The film's promotional campaign has involved him presenting custom apparel to cultural and sporting figures he deems to be true greats.
Those honored have to date featured artist Frank Ocean, former NFL player Tom Brady, and Barcelona's Spanish wunderkind Lamine Yamal.
An Unlikely but Fitting Choice
Boyle's selection was seen by many as an unlikely choice when the Oscar nominee was asked which British personalities he would judge to be exemplary.
It is worth pointing out that Chalamet was just 13 when Boyle shot to fame after astonishing viewers and judges with her performance for Britain's Got Talent, a clip which became an instant internet phenomenon.
"I recall it vividly," the actor noted. "It coincided with the dawn of viral video, you know."
