It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the peak baggers, are what's still available for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the possibility.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there Healy was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was removed her side needed 66 more at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
